Kirstin's 8th Grade Graduation (maybe)

Even though we are up in the air about her going on to the 9th grade due to a state of Texas law saying she had to pass a state wide test. They let her graduate anyway!

About the law. It says that all 8th graders must pass the reading and math sections on the states end of year testing to be promoted. Trouble with the law is that it doesn't account for people who only went to school here for two and half months... she did not learn the material presented on the test she learned other material at her old school. SIGH.... anyway there is a another test on June 30th and we are hoping that with studying the material she missed she will pass it and this will be over if not they will form a committee to decide if she goes to high school...

They told us all this the DAY OF GRADUATION nothing was said until then it was pretty much a blind side I feel so bad for her. So if she doesn't look thrilled int he pictures its because she wasn't sure if she was "really" graduating or not....

I feel like it is so our fault for moving around so much in the past year. But I will say this... I don't think that it's right to think a kid who missed 6 and half months of the instruction would be able to pass the test. And the worst part is that she only missed passing by one question and that's without ever seeing some of the stuff! But who knows...we are praying that she is going on to the high school. All her grades are A's and B's so it would seem cooler minds will prevail....
